Evgeniy ZIMIN President of the National Scouting Association
#

Evgeniy Zimin is a truly legendary person in the hockey world. He began his career as a forward at Lokomotiv (Moscow) and 4 years later joined the USSR National team in pursuit of international victories. Thus he became an Olympic champion in 1968, and later in 1972, followed by numerous wins in the World and European championships. However, his career got to its climax with the Canada–USSR Summit Series of 1972 where he scored the first goal for team USSR. All in all, his sports record includes 315 games of the USSR regular championships where he scored 185 times!

As time went by, Zimin showed himself as an efficient coach and manager. Under his guidance the USSR Junior National team won the European Junior Championship twice in 1981 and 1983. About the same time (in 1984) he resumed his affiliation with Spartak (Moscow), this time as a Head coach and later – General Manager.

In 1990 he began his scouting career joining the NHL Philadelphia Flyers. He was a Flyers scout for 19 years (1990 – 2009), which gave him tremendous knowledge and experience that he later applied as a senior member of the KHL Central Scouting Bureau (2009-2013). And this outstanding experience helps him to manage the National Scouting Association.
